Photos used on the referring site (see section entitled DEFINITIONS)  have been linked from what are believed to be public domain resources and are not stored on this server.   If you believe that these images are your intellectual property, contact the site manager by using the contact page link on the referring site and the content will be removed upon request.

FAIR USAGE 

It is believed that the sourced content for videos and photos used on the referring site complies with fair usage standards.  In the event that you contest this or otherwise object to usage of content please examine this document for policies and information on getting content to which you claim properly credited or simply removed from the referring site.  

 

INTENT

It is our intent to honor the wishes of third party content creators.   If you feel we are infringing upon your content; it will be removed upon request if it has been obtained by linking to third party content providers as established in this document.   Third party content on the referring sites is generally selected on the basis of relevance to the content or topic and provided information that would benefit the user experience.   

We all share the net, and it is our philosophy that an open community which is heavily integrated with other sites is beneficial to everyone, as this reflects the nature of the internets basic architecture as well as assists in the free flow of knowledge and information.   At the same time it is recognized that content creators may have varying degrees of exposure they would like their work to receive.  As such it is important to respect the rights of others.   In balancing these principles it is preferred to use public domain images and video content, which can readily be widely shared.   Likewise requests will be honored to remove links to content which is inappropriately placed in public domain designated areas; if requested or if it is determined that the linked to content was not intended to be a public domain asset.

Where the tools are provided, third party content is applied using embedded tools provided on sites that provide that functionality.   This method is preferred as it clarifies the intent of the third party site as a content sharing site, and is just generally easier to work with.  In some cases the referring party may not have control over what content is provided, although this is generally not the case. 

It is also remotely possible that an inadvertent mistake may be made and content that was not intended to be linked to as a result of human error.  While this is rare, it can happen.  Obviously the referring site would prefer to be notified so that this may be remedied.  In some cases it is very obvious as the image is highly irrelevent to the site or is directly linked from a generally non-public source.  Obviously, erroneously placed content will be removed upon awareness of the issue.

If content which you feel is being infringed upon is on a referring site, there  is a high possibility that it is appearing on other sites as well.   This is because many images are drawn from various content sharing sites. Please see below for ways in which you can address the problem at its source site.  This can save you a considerable amount of time if you are attempting to control distribution of multimedia content which may have been improperly uploaded and distributed by parties other than the actual rights holder.

INAPPROPRIATE PHOTO OR VIDEO CONTENT

Due to the nature of third party content sites it is always possible that changes or technical errors on third party websites may result in inappropriate content being displayed.  While this is somewhat subjective in certain situations, in most cases this type of issue is extremely obvious and considered undesireable by the referring site.   In general inappropriate content, in addition to being offensive, will tend to be highly irrelevant to the topic of discussion or otherwise unsuitable for the target audience of the referring site.  

Please notify the webmaster of the referring site of any inappropriate content concerns and they will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

IDENTIFYING THE IMAGE SOURCE

You can ascertain the origin of the link in most browsers by left clicking on your mouse and selecting copy image location.  The resulting link can then be placed in your browser and the picture and hosting site directly identified.

SOURCES FOR IMAGES

Sources for third party images and video content that may be found on the site that is linking to this page can generally be easily identified by using the instructions in the “Identifying the Image Source” section.  If you are unable to identify the  content source please contact the referring site’s webmaster directly.  Every attempt is made to insure that content on the referring sites are created by us or is drawn from public domain sources.

VIDEO SOURCES

Videos used are generally clearly labeled and come from a variety of sources.   They are applied with embed code obtained from the third party site identified by the logo on the video or video frame.

In the event that the video contains unlicensed, infringing or otherwise contested intellectual property materials, the best course of action is to contact the source and follow their procedures so that the videos in question will be simultaneously made inaccessible to all sites linking from the unauthorized source.
